Friday Favorites: Lots of Pink, Harry Potter, and Blogging Day Dreams
Happy Friday! If you’ve been following along, you know I always love to use my Friday Favorites posts as an opportunity to give you a little life update. I’ve been quiet on here this week. I typically try to push out at least five new posts for you, but this week I am only looking at three (which includes this one). But hey, it’s only Friday. Let’s see what tomorrow brings!
I’ve actually been super busy at home. Me and my little man have been having fun pool parties every day on our back deck, which includes A LOT of pizza, pasta, grilled cheese, chicken nuggets, and every snack imaginable. And while he takes his naps I’ve been super busy painting a playhouse for him. I am so so so excited to eventually share the end results with you!! I anticipate next week!
Allergies have actually been kicking my butt lately, probably from all nonstop outdoor time. So at night I am usually stuffed up with a headache looking to just relax, not write. Plus my husband and I have been watching a certain movie series most nights once John is asleep. But much more on that below! Happy Friday everyone!
Blogging Day Dreams
I want to start off this weeks Friday Favorites with a big THANK YOU! I’ve been blogging now for three years. On and off mostly. For the past few months I have been trying to be better about it. Blogging more frequently, and mainly blogging the way I want to. What that means to me is that I stopped listening to what everyone else says to do. I’ve been blogging exactly how I want to, and you know what? It has paid off. I went from 5k monthly views to 50k in just a few short months. So, anyone reading this, thank you! Thank you for supporting my blogging day dreams.
90s Fashion Trends
I shared with you some of my favorite ways to rock vintage 90s fashion trends for this summer. This pretty pink overalls and graphic tee outfit totally screams 90s to me! Plus I have seriously been considering buying a pair of overalls. If you caught my 90s fashion post you would have read that I used to own a few pairs of overalls in my way younger days. But as an adult, I have yet to make that fashion purchase. Should I go for it?
Playhouse Makeover
In case you skimmed past my intro (no judgement, we all do it sometimes) I mentioned how I have been super busy painting my little guys playhouse! I have always loved and admired playhouse makeovers I would find on Pinterest, and I finally got my chance to do one! This playhouse makeover by Tiffanie Ann has some really great tips on how to make your playhouse stand out from the others!
Pool Party
Again, as I mentioned above, my son and I have been having little pool parties all week (aka he plays in his baby pool while I continuously feed him and clean out all the dropped food). It’s been ridiculously hot here, so it’s the perfect way to spend our days. I am in love with this pool party featured on Inspired By This. Mama needs to get to that party… chick out their post for some really great pool party inspiration!
Fresh Flowers
I love this kind of flower photography! Pretty positive I always share a flower picture with my Friday Favorites, and it’s always my own picture — but not this week. Although I have had fresh flower bouquets in my house every day (thanks, hubby) I have totally failed at capturing them, especially my birthday bouquet which is seriously wilting. After all, my birthday was a week and a half ago… I’ll try better for next week!
Pretty Pink Nails
Obsessed with these pretty pink nails from @fashionablykay. Also, her ring game is beyond gorgeous. A few weeks ago I shared with you a five shades of pink nail inspo that I said I was planning on copying, and I am happy to report that I followed through. Love | Character Strength
I took this really great character strengths test for a conference call and my top strength was LOVE. Which basically means that I value my relationships and being close to those I care about above all else. Which I really couldn’t agree with more! Love is what I live for! Fall Asleep Fast
Along with the character strengths test I mentioned above, we discussed so many great things which included a breathing technique to help you fall asleep faster. As I said, allergies have really been kicking my butt lately and giving me a headache at night. Now, typically that would cause me to toss and turn for-ev-errrr but this breathing technique has been a total game changer. It’s the 4 7 8 technique. Breathe in for 4 seconds, hold for 7 seconds, release for 8 seconds, repeat. Let me know if you try it and it helps you, too!
Work Space
So before I had my baby boy I decided to create a dedicated work space in my home. I had an “office” but that turned into the nursery. So, I moved everything to a corner in the basement and that became my blogging and work area. It’s really been a huge eyesore and total waste of space. Because once I can get my hands on my laptop to do work, I don’t want to be in the basement! I’m sitting on my couch during the day, my bed at night, or in the gorgeous natural light that floods my kitchen table in the morning. I’ve cleaned out my “work area” and am transforming it to a total fun-land for John. More on that later!
Home Goals
This bedroom by @astoldbymichelle is serious goals. Ok, if we are being honest, her entire home is goals. Check it out if you don’t believe me! In addition to cleaning out my work area, I have been taking so much time de-cluttering the entire house. Looking at perfectly styled rooms like this helps motivate me to do so until 2am on Saturday nights. When else am I supposed to get so much done?
Harry Potter
So, again, if you read through my intro you read that my husband and I have been watching a movie series at night. We’ve been watching Harry Potter, and we just finished The Chamber of Secrets, so this photo could not be any more fitting! Why is this worth mentioning? It’s my first time ever watching the series! I really don’t know that many people my age who have never seen or read the books. I’ve done neither. Two movies down, and I am really loving it so far! I’ll keep you updated as we continue to watch!
