Boo Berry Ghost Pancakes For Baby

September 21, 2022

BOO! And happy first day of Fall! Finally, all my nonstop Halloween content feels totally acceptable. Today kickstarts my Halloween treats blog series where I attempt to make the easiest Halloween treats I can find. We previously shared a few easy Hocus Pocus treats and our favorite easy mummy treats (and I absolutely will be attempting some of those).

Today we are sharing an incredibly easy “Boo-Berry” pancake idea for your baby and/or toddler. I have both, and they both loved them. My one-year-old is currently obsessed with blueberries and my three-year-old is obsessed with all things Halloween, so it was the perfect treat to start with.

This post could contain affiliate links, which means I would receive a small commission at no cost to you should you shop using the links.

We partnered with our friends at Bazzle Baby to create this Halloween treat using their silicone Anchor Feeding sets. These include a bib, plate, bowl, and spoon. The plate and bowl suction to the table, which is much appreciated when you have a one-year-old who likes to throw whatever he can get his hands on when he’s all done eating.

Bazzle Baby is offering 20% off their items to all our readers through our link when you use code JJackson20.

To create the ghost shape, we used Hyde & EEK! Halloween cookie cutters, which included the cutest little ghost. All the cookie cutters included are smaller than usual, making them perfect for baby and toddler-size snacks.

We snagged the Bullseye bat spatula from Target as well, because it felt totally necessary to create Halloween treats with. Plus, it’s a bat spatula… everyone needs one. Although I can’t link that one because it was the $3 one, I can share with you the $5.99 bat spatula that’s the same thing, just a little more sturdy.

I ended up making these boo-berry pancakes twice. The first time I used pre-made pancake mix and the second time I made a homemade mix. I used the premade when both kids were wide awake running and screaming about for breakfast. I took the easy route, of course.

The homemade pancake mix I made when both miraculously took a nap at the same time and had blueberry pancakes ready to eat when they woke up. I have for sure mastered the ghost pancake by now.

After making about fifteen boo-berry pancakes altogether, I discovered my favorite method for creating perfect ghosts where you can see blueberries is by adding the blueberries into the mold first and then pouring the mixture on top. The side of the pancake that gets cooked first always looks best to me. Thus, I wanted the blueberries on that side (for photos, obviously).

As you can see above, my one-year-old’s pancakes had the blueberries added after the pancake mix was poured into the ghost mold. So if you would rather have perfect ghosts with hidden blueberries add them into the mix after pouring. Or add all the blueberries into your big bowl of pancake mixture before pouring! There really is no right or wrong way to make blueberry or boo-berry pancakes.

Don’t fret, they’re not as scary as my one-year-old would make it seem! I hope you have just as much fun making these Halloween boo-berry pancakes. Your little ones are sure to love them for the sweet blueberries and adorable ghost shape!

“All fame cost her was everything.” 🎸✨💋
Darkening Song by Delphine Seddon was such a fun read. When I saw it being placed in the same space as #daisyjonesandthesix I immediately requested this ARC. Thank you @netgalley and @stmartinspress — I can’t wait for the adaptation!

Daisy Jones & The Six — one of my favorite book adaptations ever. 📚 More books need to be made into a limited TV series rather than crammed into a movie. #daisyjonesandthesix #bookadaptation #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #bookflatlay
