Trending Fall Nails: Milky White Magic Inspired by Gilmore Girls

September 25, 2023

Happy mani-Monday! You know who would really appreciate my Bangles ‘Manic Monday’ reference every week? The Gilmore Girls. I’d like to think they would appreciate our play on words. Therefore, they absolutely must make an appearance here.

Keeping up with our Gilmore Girls-themed week, for today’s mani-Monday we’re channeling Lorelai to create a Gilmore Girls fall nail inspiration. If you’re like me, you’ve binged the series more times than you’d like to admit (and hey, there’s no shame in that!). Lorelai had this adorable quirk where she could “smell snow.”

This season, in honor of our favorite TV mom and her uncanny snow radar, I present to you: Milky White Nails. Think of it as a tribute to the first snowfall, a blank canvas just before Stars Hollow is covered in a winter wonderland. Perhaps the nail color Snowy White would be perfect!

Why Milky White?

  1. Versatility: Much like a classic Luke’s Diner coffee, it goes with everything! Whether you’re bundled up for a Friday night dinner at the Gilmore mansion or in a flannel at the Autumn Festival, this shade won’t clash. A most-loved milky white – Funny Bunny
  2. Elegance: Nothing says sophistication like a subtle, milky white. It’s the Emily Gilmore of nail colors – timeless and chic. Try At First Blush – a pale, subtle off-white.
  3. Pop of Fun: The beauty of this neutral palette is that you can jazz it up! Throw in some glitter, like The Struggle Is Real — a pearlescent shade of white.

How to Rock It:

  • Matte or Glossy: While a matte finish gives a soft, snowy touch, a glossy finish reminds us of the crisp icicles hanging from Miss Patty’s Dance Studio.
  • Accents: Feeling adventurous like Rory on her first day at Yale? Add an accent nail! Perhaps a tiny snowflake.
  • Pair with: A chunky knit sweater, your favorite book (or movie for those of you on Team Dean, Jess, or Logan), and a cup of hot cocoa.

In the wise words of Lorelai, life’s short. Talk fast and make those nails as enchanting as the first snowfall in Stars Hollow. And who knows, with those milky white nails, you just might start predicting the snowfalls too! Until next time, may your autumn be filled with quirky town events, rapid-fire conversations, and nails that scream “Gilmore”.

“All fame cost her was everything.” 🎸✨💋
Darkening Song by Delphine Seddon was such a fun read. When I saw it being placed in the same space as #daisyjonesandthesix I immediately requested this ARC. Thank you @netgalley and @stmartinspress — I can’t wait for the adaptation!

Daisy Jones & The Six — one of my favorite book adaptations ever. 📚 More books need to be made into a limited TV series rather than crammed into a movie. #daisyjonesandthesix #bookadaptation #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #bookflatlay
