Black Nails: Short and Chic for Fall

October 2, 2023

Happy mani-Monday! With the cozy fall season sweeping in, there’s one nail color I can’t resist pulling out for the season: BLACK! It’s edgy, it’s elegant, and oh-so-enigmatic, striking the perfect balance between timeless and trendy. My favorite polish is technically called a “dark purple” but as you can see in my photo above — it’s basically a black.

Now, I get it. Black nails and fall nail trends? Groundbreaking! Believe me, I’ve written plenty about black nails for fall in my past posts. But today, I’m zeroing in on a niche: short and chic black nails. So, if you’re in the mood for embracing the short and chic vibe, you’re in the right place, because that’s exactly the aesthetic I’m rocking these days!

Inspo Corner: Short Black Nails

The allure of black nails isn’t solely in intricate designs or patterns. Sometimes, the most captivating look is a simple, glossy finish that gleams with elegance. There’s something about a perfectly applied coat of lustrous black polish that speaks volumes. It exudes confidence, style, and an air of timeless sophistication.

If you’re yearning for a nail transformation this fall that’s both chic and understated, you’ve landed on the right page. After all, there’s a certain magic in the simplicity and shine of black that’s impossible to resist!

Why Short Black Nails

Bold and Timeless: Black never goes out of style. It’s chic, it’s fierce, and it stands out – short or long.

Practical and Stylish: Short nails are perfect for those who type a lot, play instruments, or just don’t want the hassle of long nails. And with a black hue? They’re downright stylish.

Versatility is Key: From matte to glossy, from plain to patterned – black can be as subtle or as dramatic as you want it to be.

Tips to Rock Black on Short Nails

  1. Keep ’em Neat: With a bold color like black, it’s essential to keep your nails well-shaped and your cuticles clean for a polished look.
  2. Try Different Finishes: Mix and match with matte, glossy, or even a sparkly finish.
  3. Accessorize: Studs, gems, or even a touch of gold or silver can elevate your black nail game.
  4. Play with Patterns: Think stripes, dots, or even minimalist art to add a touch of uniqueness to your nails.

Black Nail Care

Black polish, with its deep, rich hue, can be an absolute game-changer for any look. But as gorgeous as it is, it does come with one minor hiccup – the potential to stain nails. If you’ve ever removed a black polish and found your nails looking a tad yellowish or gray, you’re not alone.

Base Coat is a Must: Always start with a base coat. Think of it as a primer for your nails. This transparent layer not only protects your nails from potential stains but also helps in extending the wear of your polish. So, no matter how tempting it might be to skip this step – don’t!

Choose Quality Polish: Not all black polishes are created equal. Invest in a high-quality nail polish that has a reputation for being non-staining. The better the quality, the less likely it is to leave any residues behind.

Wrapping Up

Who says you need intricate designs to stand out? Glossy short black nails are the epitome of edgy elegance, making a statement all on their own. Especially as the leaves start to fall and sweater weather kicks in, a shimmering black nail polish can be the perfect accessory. After all, the timeless appeal of a sleek black coat is universally alluring.

Darkening Song by Delphine Seddon was such a fun read. When I saw it being placed in the same space as #daisyjonesandthesix I immediately requested this ARC. Thank you @netgalley and @stmartinspress — I can’t wait for the adaptation!

Daisy Jones & The Six — one of my favorite book adaptations ever. 📚 More books need to be made into a limited TV series rather than crammed into a movie. #daisyjonesandthesix #bookadaptation #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #bookflatlay
