When I was pregnant with my son and made the decision to try nursing once he was born I had no idea how much hard work went into it. Not to mention the lack of sleep you get when they are a nursing newborn. As if you already weren’t going to be sleep-deprived, you and only you can feed your nursing newborn baby. You are awake constantly.
But I am so happy that I decided to give it a try and have stuck with it. Because it does get easier.
Nursing is super empowering for us women. I love knowing that I — just me and my body — have the capability to provide all the nutrients my son needs to grow and survive. There is something really powerful about that. Not to mention the special bond I feel with my son that no one else can ever have.
Nursing is also so comforting for your baby. I see this every night with my son. When he wakes up in the middle of the night and I am able to instantly soothe and nurse him back to sleep without him making much of a fuss at all – it is so satisfying for me.
Although nursing can be really stressful at times, let’s not add the stress of finding stylish nursing-friendly outfits, which can be hard to do!
