Summer Vibes + Friday Favorites | June 19

June 19, 2020

Happy Friday! In addition to my weekly Feel Good Friday post, I am sharing with you a few of my favorite things from this past week that are giving me major summer vibes. I have been feeling really happy and refreshed, inspired and creative, and ready to shop and chop! I promise all of that makes sense if you continue reading. Enjoy the weekend!

Polaroid Photos

Polaroid cameras are such a fun and easy idea to capture summer memories. I decided I was going to start using my polaroid camera more this summer and I am very happy to report that I have been. I originally bought it to use in lieu of a traditional guest book for our wedding, and then we used it a ton on our honeymoon. Since then it had mainly acted as a piece of decor that collected dust. Once the weather began to break here I decided I needed to start using it again. After all, my pictures pretty much live on my phone for-ev-er. It’s nice to have print outs, not to mention instant print outs of my sweet boys face!

Summer Nails

Last month I shared with you some of the top trending nail colors for this summer. Well, I am totally in love with how Erica Shaw decided to paint each of her nails a different summer shade. It’s so playful, eye-catching, and PINK! I think I may be totally copying this idea over the weekend. And can we take a moment to appreciate her gorgeous ring party? Another thing I have been loving is wearing lots of rings. It’s definitely the one piece of jewelry I can wear a lot of and not have to worry about little hands trying to snatch it off of me! I know all you mommas can relate!

New Summer ‘Do

Absolutely loving this hairstyle and have been seriously considering cutting my hair shorter. As someone who has always, always worn her hair loooong, it must be the quarantine getting to me. I cut my son’s hair, how hard can it be — right? OK, I know it will be majorly different and more difficult. Well, a little less difficult — at least I will sit still for the cut. It was pretty fun chasing him around with a pair of kitchen scissors. That sounds terrible, but it’s the truth. He came out looking ridiculously adorable! Regardless of the disaster it may or may not be for my hair, I will be posting an update. It’s not bangs, at least… yet.

High Neck Tank

I have always been a white shirt and jeans girl. It’s my go-to outfit all the time, any season. This outfit instantly caught my eye, to say the least. This sheer high neck white tank is something I have been looking for this summer. I’ve been wearing high tanks A LOT lately. Mainly if I venture out of the house because I have a very, very attached to this hip little boy who loves to pull on my shirts. Anything low-cut is a no-go in public with him. High neck has been my fashion savior for this summer. Plus I think they look so chic! Look chic, stay covered up — it’s a win-win in my book.

Sunshine

The moment I saw this picture I had major beach envy! Plus it reminded me how sweet my mom is for letting me borrow her embroidered sun hat, which reads do not disturb. I think they’re so cute! This week we have been getting in so much sunshine! We are basically outside all day every day. If we are not outside it’s because we are inside fueling up for our next outside adventure. All this sunshine has been great for all of us. It keeps us all in way better moods than when we’re stuck indoors. Thank you, Vitamin D! Plus we are rocking some hardcore farmers tans… well, everyone but me (thanks, sunless tanner!)

A Good Nights Sleep

A really crazy and incredible thing happened this week. I got a really, really good night’s sleep! I went to bed at 9:30 and my son decided to sleep in until 8:30 the next morning. He pretty much always wakes up between 6 and 6:30. It was the most sleep I have gotten in a single night in… I don’t even know how long!  Too long, for sure. I felt so well-rested the next day. I honestly still think I am benefitting days later. I really need to continue to take advantage of earlier nights like that when I can. It’s hard because I always have a laundry list of 100 things I want to do once my son is asleep. My goal is to set aside at least one night each week to get in more than my usual amount of sleep. Fingers crossed!

This is one of the best historical fiction books I’ve ever read (listened to, thank you @netgalley). If you have the chance to get your hands on this one, READ IT!

It doesn’t just tell you what happened in history, it truly makes you feel it. It educates you and moves you all at the same time. Thank you @tammyehuf I’ll read anything you write.

My #ThoughtDaughter book stack from July—the month I tried to pick a theme that resonated the most with me. My standouts: Alone With You In The Ether, The Virgin Suicides, and My Year Of Rest and Relaxation which I think about every time I buy an iced coffee and consider buying a second. #bookstagram #bookstack #myyearofrestandrelaxation #alonewithyouintheether
