You Are My Sunshine Wall Art for A Toddler Room

June 21, 2021

Happy official first day of summer! The longest day of the year = the most sunshine! You can guarantee we will be spending all our time soaking it up (aka, the usual day for us). Even with the month-long cicada invasion we just endured, you could find us outside from morning to evening, even if our neighbors thought we were mad. Toddlers are persistent and exhausting if you didn’t already know.

My little guy is a nonstop ball of energy. From the moment he wakes to his final leap into bed in the evening he is go, go, go! This never shocked me as he sprang into the toddler era. After all, he was crawling at four months and walking before his first birthday. Unsparing energy and movement have always been his forte.

But before I really knew this literal ray of sunshine, I first decorated his nursery with my color palette taste; mostly whites and greys with hints of black. A bit of a monotone color scheme, if you ask me. But this little guy is anything but monotone in color. He’s my literal walking rainbow. He exudes a vibrant energy that is both contagious and exhausting (for me, anyway).

Over the past two and a half years my son’s room has slowly transformed in color. With blankets, toys, pillows, and books in each and every color he requests, it became his own personalized, colorful space. I was so happy to receive this You Are My Sunshine canvas print from Photowall. It is the perfect complement to the room; an endearing and colorful way for me to remind him just what he is to me: my sunshine.

That’s how I’ve always seen it — my little love message to him. I never assumed he thought much of it, mainly because after I hung it up a few months back I never heard a peep from him about it ever again. After all, he’s only two and a half, he can’t think much of wall art. Right? To my pleasant surprise, my husband let me know he does in fact think much of it.

On a recent night that I was away for bedtime, my husband let me know John talked about the wall art while falling asleep. Telling my husband that I put it there for him and proceeded to recite all the colors he could spot in the lettering.

My heart exploded.

After scrolling and scrolling through all the great options from Photowall, searching for the perfect piece for him, I am happy to know he loves it as much as I do. In his own sweet toddler way.

Photowall has some of the most darling prints, canvas prints (that’s what I have!), and wallpapers for babies, kids, and adults, but this piece spoke the loudest to me — for John. I opted for a canvas print instead of an eye-catching wallpaper because I wanted the piece to be able to move with him, and I knew he would need to evacuate the “nursery” and move into a big boy room one day. One day very soon, so be sure to check back for a toddler room update where you will 100% find this You Are My Sunshine print happily hanging, giving his new space the sweet, colorful touch it needs.

Thanks for stopping by! Let me know when you check them out and which piece you choose for your sweet babe, too! Remember, all of Photowall’s items are customizable in size, which will give you exactly what you need for your little one’s precious space.

As a serial highlighter and tabber, this book would have been ABSOLUTELY COVERED in little tabs if it was a physical copy. My Kindle highlights will have to suffice until pub day (June 2027) because I have so many thoughts.

the ghosts, the art, the wasps, the homewrecking…

This book was strange, sad, funny, beautifully unsettling, and somehow incredibly comforting all at once… and I loved it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My full review ⚠️with spoilers ⚠️ is up on the blog!

Thank you @netgalley @spiegelandgrau @beckymandelbaum for this amazing ARC!
