Enriching Benefits of Breastfeeding: Beyond Nourishment

August 1, 2019

Hey, there, radiant mamas and mamas-to-be! When I embarked on the journey of motherhood, I found myself diving deep into the world of feeding choices. Like a tapestry of different colors and patterns, every mom’s feeding journey is uniquely her own. I breastfed and, when nature threw a curveball, also supplemented with formula. And guess what? Both paths were filled with love, care, and deep connection.

Today, I’d love to share some heartwarming benefits of breastfeeding – not as a comparison, but as a celebration of one of the many beautiful choices we have as mothers.

A Symphony of Nutrients

Breast milk is a dynamic elixir that changes with your baby’s needs. From colostrum, rich in antibodies, to mature milk filled with the right balance of fats, proteins, and vitamins – it’s nature’s personalized meal for your little one.

Bonding Time

The skin-to-skin contact and closeness during breastfeeding can create an indescribable bond. Those soulful gazes, tiny hand grasps, and gentle sighs are moments of pure magic. Plus, the close contact and bonding time during breastfeeding can potentially influence milk supply! Win-win.

The Power of Mother-Baby Bonding in Boosting Milk Supply

Nature’s Pacifier

Breastfeeding often soothes a fussy baby, not just because of hunger but also the comfort it provides. It’s like a warm, reassuring embrace telling them, “Everything’s going to be alright.”

Health Benefits for Mama

Breastfeeding isn’t just beneficial for babies. It can help reduce the risk of certain health conditions for moms, like breast cancer and ovarian cancer. Plus, it often plays a role in postpartum weight management. It’s nature’s way of taking care of us too!

Eco-Friendly Bonus

Breastfeeding is incredibly sustainable. With no bottles to sterilize (unless you’re pumping), no formula cans, and no packaging, it’s an eco-friendly choice we can make for our planet.

Wallet-Friendly

Breastfeeding can be economical since it requires no additional products (aside from possibly a pump or nursing pads). Every penny saved means more for those cute baby outfits or perhaps some self-care treats for mama!

Adaptable and Convenient

Breast milk is always at the right temperature and ready whenever your baby is. No prepping, no warming – it’s fast food at its finest!

To every mom reading this – whether you breastfeed, formula feed, or a mix of both – remember that the love you pour into feeding your child outweighs everything. Our paths may differ, but our destination is the same: a happy, healthy, and nurtured child.

To those contemplating breastfeeding, may this journey bring you moments of intimacy, wonder, and joy. And for the moments of doubt or challenges, always remember that the best mothers aren’t perfect. They’re real, they’re loving, and they’re doing their best.

To all of us, in every shade of motherhood, here’s to embracing our unique stories, filled with love and devotion.

As a serial highlighter and tabber, this book would have been ABSOLUTELY COVERED in little tabs if it was a physical copy. My Kindle highlights will have to suffice until pub day (June 2027) because I have so many thoughts.

the ghosts, the art, the wasps, the homewrecking…

This book was strange, sad, funny, beautifully unsettling, and somehow incredibly comforting all at once… and I loved it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My full review ⚠️with spoilers ⚠️ is up on the blog!

Thank you @netgalley @spiegelandgrau @beckymandelbaum for this amazing ARC!
