Crowned By Fae by Jada McCrary | Audiobook Review

July 16, 2026

“For it was you also who taught me how to live and not just survive. I live for you.” – Crowned By Fae by Jada McCrary

After absolutely loving Of Fae and Wicked Kings, I went into Crowned By Fae by Jada McCrary with such high expectations. While it didn’t quite reach the same emotional heights for me, it was still such an fun listen with a romance that felt so sweet from the very beginning.

Instead of the slow-burn tension found in Of Fae and Wicked Kings, Crowned By Fae is a much sweeter romance built on an already established love.

Crowned By Fae Review | Sweet Romance, Unexpected Emotion

Ash and Cypress’s relationship is built on this unwavering trust and devotion, making this a much softer romance. It was refreshing in its own way, even if I found myself missing that slow burn tension I love to devour.

The biggest emotional moment for me came when Ash’s former betrothed entered the story. That twist was absolutely diabolical. I actually gasped, and then Aldridge comforting her grief with kindness for once was one of my favorite moments in the novella. I teared up, and after spending the novella hating Aldridge I was shocked he made me feel that kind of emotion.

Wonderfully unexpected moments like this are exactly what make Jada McCrary’s writing so good!

The Crowned By Fae audiobook was also wonderfully done. Although the female narrator carries most of the story, having both narrators added another layer to the emotional moments. This dual narration created a fast-paced and engaging listen that kept me invested from beginning to end.

Is Crowned By Fae Worth Listening To?

My only issue comes down to the pacing. And yes, I do completely understand this is a novella, but it felt like it was trying to fit a full fantasy novel into such a short page count. Everything moved at literal lightning speed… like Ash defeating 10,000 enemies with literal lightning fast.

I found myself wishing either the novella had been just a little longer or that it had focused on fewer major events.

Overall, Crowned By Fae still delivered such a sweet heartfelt romance with a few memorable emotional moments. Just like Of Fae and Wicked Kings, this novella also left me excited to continue exploring this world created by Jada McCrary!

“All fame cost her was everything.” 🎸✨💋
Darkening Song by Delphine Seddon was such a fun read. When I saw it being placed in the same space as #daisyjonesandthesix I immediately requested this ARC. Thank you @netgalley and @stmartinspress — I can’t wait for the adaptation!
