Five For Friday

Five For Friday: Positive Quotes

July 8, 2022

Happy Friday! In last week’s Five for Friday I mentioned how I’ve been trying so hard to take life a little slower. My second born turning one this week has really been a shock to my system with how fast time is flying, making me want to savor these moments so much more. But it’s hard. Life can be chaotic, always moving at an accelerated pace.

I overwhelm myself with my own thoughts throughout the day. I want to get done ALL the things ALL. THE. TIME. When I feel like I am failing at getting something done I am so hard on myself. I talk badly to myself and ultimately put myself in a bad mood. Your own thoughts can have such an impact on you. Be kind to yourself! It’s a work in progress for me.

Most days I just need to tell myself to take a step back, put on some music, dance with my two babes, and breathe in the good. Today’s Five for Friday vibe is all about positivity.

1. Let’s Look: Positive Quotes

Let’s take a look at a few positive quotes I have found this week while scrolling Pinterest.

2. Let’s Watch Over and Over

Did you know watching the same movie or show over and over again is actually really therapeutic? It’s a way to lessen anxiety and create a sense of security and comfort for you. It’s no wonder The Office played on repeat all through my undergrad and graduate program. Years later it continued to play every night in my bedroom to help me fall asleep when I would feel anxious about going to work the next morning.

Now that The Office is off Netflix I have found other comfort shows. Here are some of my favorite go-to shows to watch over and over again to help create that feel-good feeling:

  • Outlander
  • Friends
  • Schitt’s Creek
  • Seinfeld
  • Gilmore Girls

Other than Friends (because that left Netflix, too) the other shows are constantly in my Continue Watching queue. Do you have a go-to show or movie you watch on repeat?

3. Let’s Listen

Listening to music, in general, gives you a release of dopamine (the feel-good hormone). Here is a list of my all-time favorite songs that instantly make me feel good with a lasting positive attitude.

REO Speedwagon – Keep on Loving You

Taylor Swift – August

The Cranberries – Dreams

Grouplove – Tongue Tied

Goo Goo Dolls – Iris

Modern English – I Melt With You

Houndmouth – Sedona

The Cardigans – Lovefool

Third Eye Blind – How’s It Going To Be

Halsey – Colors

4. Let’s Feel Good

There are so many things you can do to help change your state of mind. Here are a few things I like to do for myself to ensure I feel my best all day:

Scent: When I smell good I instantly feel better. This scent (Brazilian Crush) has been circulating around TikTok lately, and with over 16k reviews on Amazon, it’s a safe choice it could be a winner for you too. Also available at Sephora.

Movement: The days I sit around the most are the days I feel the worst. Taking a walk can instantly help my mood. My toddler is always demanding a walk anyway, so this one is beyond easy to do. But sometimes I need a little more than that. Simple YouTube videos are a great way to get a quick exercise routine in without taking away much of my alone time. I love MadFit’s workouts. They’re short and effective. But if you hate the idea of exercise, just throw yourself a little dance party at any time during the day.

Hydrate: Drink enough water!! It’s such a simple idea that I KNOW will make me feel better throughout the day, yet sometimes I struggle with it. Get yourself a reusable pretty water bottle with time marks on it to help motivate you. If you struggle too, this seriously helps me.

Glow: I strugggggled in my teen years and early twenties with acne-prone skin. These days I never miss my night and morning skincare routine and my skin has thanked me for it. My favorites are from The Ordinary (this four-piece set has everything I use and LOVE).

Eat: Don’t forget to eat. Hanger looks good on no one. Running around with two little ones means I sometimes forget to eat. Have snacks you love readily available all day to ensure you never hit that hanger point of no return.

5. Let’s Get Social: Tiktok

There are so many great accounts on TikTok that dedicate their account to positivity. Here are just a few that I absolutely love to check out:

  • @energywithemily_ – self-love talk
  • @the_littlegarden – your thoughts create the way you feel
  • @iamjencannon – happy cells
  • @midlifemuse – radiating soul-care routine

“Beauty and the Beast meets organized crime” that was enough for me. Instantly needed to read this. Loved it. Cannot wait for more because the ending? That cliffhanger? How dare you. Happy pub day @sadie_kincaidxx !! ♥️

“All fame cost her was everything.” 🎸✨💋
Darkening Song by Delphine Seddon was such a fun read. When I saw it being placed in the same space as #daisyjonesandthesix I immediately requested this ARC. Thank you @netgalley and @stmartinspress — I can’t wait for the adaptation!

Daisy Jones & The Six — one of my favorite book adaptations ever. 📚 More books need to be made into a limited TV series rather than crammed into a movie. #daisyjonesandthesix #bookadaptation #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #bookflatlay
