Five For Friday / Taylor Swift

Five For Friday – Taylor Swift

September 2, 2022

Happy Friday! Today we are dedicating our Five for Friday post to all things Taylor Swift. If you’re a huge fan like we are, you know this past Sunday at the VMA’s she announced the release date of her brand new album titled “Midnight”. I got really lucky catching that announcement. I put the TV on just as they were announcing the nominees for best music video. The crowd chanting Taylor’s name while we awaited the results was amazing.

Her winning was even more amazing. But then, the new album announcement — the joy I felt… I know if you’re reading this then you understand. Instant sweat and tears, followed by texting my best friend and husband. Can’t wait for October 21!

1. Let’s Look: Taylor Swift Lyrics

Although I found SO many of these that I want to share with you, here are 13 lyrical wallpapers I found scrolling Pinterest this week. If they are credited wrong, please email me!

2. Let’s Pick Favorites

I grew up listening to Taylor Swift as the albums were released (born in 1989!). My favorite songs always take me back to the place and time when the album was first released, so my favorites may not always be the popular choices. Here are my favorite songs from each album and why:

  • Taylor Swift: Tim McGraw, I can still remember driving in my best friend’s car (and the exact road we were on) when we heard her play this song on the radio for the first time.
  • Fearless: The Way I Loved You, I honestly just loved belting this song out as a teenager — and I still do. “HE’S CHARMING AND ENDEARING AND I’m comfortable…” never gets old.
  • Speak Now: Enchanted, ever since I first heard this song at any given minute the chorus is playing in my brain somewhere.
  • Red: Begin Again holds a special place in my heart. When my best friend and I were at the Red concert she told me this song made her think of me and my current boyfriend (now husband). I can’t listen to this and not be overwhelmed with emotion, and I typically tear up when I am singing the lyrics “But you start to talk about the movies that your family watches every single Christmas”.
  • 1989: Style, I fell hard for this song the second I heard it. My husband, too. It’s always been one of our go-to songs to play in the house or sing at any given moment.
  • Reputation: Delicate, this one is my favorite purely based on how it sounds and how it makes me feel. I love this song. I bought the album and played it for the first time (and the remaining 9-hour work day) at an old job that I loved working at. It always makes me think of my old work friends.
  • Lover: Lover, it’s such a sweet song. This album was released after I had my firstborn and he and I listened to it all the time (especially during sleepless nights). He loves to watch this music video, which he calls “Tay Tay House.”
  • Folklore: August, I’ve written about my love for August. It’s a masterpiece.
  • Evermore: Ivy, I know everyone has their theories on Taylor’s songs and I’ve read a few on Ivy — but I will never change my mind that Ivy is about Outlander. Believing it is about Outlander brings me unmeasurable amounts of joy. If you think you can change my mind, just don’t. I prefer to live in this Outlander bliss.

3. Let’s Sing Lullabies

I mentioned above how my firstborn and I listened to Lover all the time after its release, which included sleepless nights. My best friend recently sent me a Taylor Swift Lullaby playlist. You can find the YouTube creator at Sparrow Sleeps, where they have more than just Taylor. I played some for my secondborn the other night as he struggled to sleep and he fell right to sleep on my shoulder as we listened to their lullaby version of August.

4. Let’s Talk Theories

What’s your favorite Taylor Swift theory? Social media is OVERFLOWING with them but I think my favorite theory that I hang onto is the unreleased album Karma. If you have no idea what I am talking about, here is a very recent TikTok video from @thethriftyswiftie that touches on the theory. But I highly suggest going down the Karma rabbit hole.

5. Let’s Get Social (TikTok)

Speaking of TikTok, here are a few of my favorite creators on TikTok that talk all things Taylor:

  • @stevensully
  • @thethriftyswiftie
  • @swifttokdetective
  • @djrog1998
  • @bryanlicious2
  • @the13podcast

Send me more recommendations!

“Beauty and the Beast meets organized crime” that was enough for me. Instantly needed to read this. Loved it. Cannot wait for more because the ending? That cliffhanger? How dare you. Happy pub day @sadie_kincaidxx !! ♥️

“All fame cost her was everything.” 🎸✨💋
Darkening Song by Delphine Seddon was such a fun read. When I saw it being placed in the same space as #daisyjonesandthesix I immediately requested this ARC. Thank you @netgalley and @stmartinspress — I can’t wait for the adaptation!

Daisy Jones & The Six — one of my favorite book adaptations ever. 📚 More books need to be made into a limited TV series rather than crammed into a movie. #daisyjonesandthesix #bookadaptation #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #bookflatlay
