5 Healthy Habits To Glow and Thrive As a New Mom

September 13, 2023

In the whirlwind of motherhood, every mom’s journey is unique, but one thing remains universal: the importance of self-care. As you navigate this beautiful path, remember that taking care of yourself isn’t a luxury; it’s a necessity. So, here’s to thriving, glowing, and being the best mom (which, by the way, you already are!).

Entering motherhood is like joining an elite club of sleep-deprived superheroes, and while it’s a transformative and heartwarming journey, it’s essential to remember that our well-being matters too. Let’s dive into five super doable and healthy habits that will help you feel on top of the world (or at least on top of the laundry pile).

Hydration Nation!

While it’s tempting to fuel our day with endless cups of coffee (and who can blame us?), our body truly craves water. Especially if you’re breastfeeding, staying hydrated helps with milk production and keeps fatigue at bay. So, grab a cute water bottle, fill it up, and sip, sip, sip! Consider it your new accessory, next to that adorable diaper bag.

Enriching Benefits of Breastfeeding: Beyond Nourishment

Embrace the Power Nap

Let’s be real; those age-old advice pieces about “sleeping when the baby sleeps” are a tad optimistic, especially when there’s a mountain of chores staring back. But, grabbing a 20-minute power nap? Now that’s achievable! These short rests can recharge your batteries and improve mood. Pro tip: Set a soft alarm to ensure you don’t oversleep and mess with your nighttime routine.

Get Moving, Gorgeous!

We’re not talking about hitting the gym for an intense session (unless that’s your jam!). Simple stretches, a stroll around the block with the stroller, or even a mini living room dance party can work wonders for your mood and energy. The idea is to get the blood pumping and those endorphins flowing!

Nutrient-Rich Nibbles

With a new baby, sometimes meals become whatever you can grab with one hand. While it’s okay occasionally, you deserve nutrient-rich foods that fuel your supermom duties. Stock up on easy-to-eat fruits like bananas and berries, munch on nuts, or whip up smoothies. Remember, it’s not about “dieting”; it’s about fueling your body with love!

Connect & Reflect

Between diaper changes and lullabies, it’s easy to feel isolated. Take a few minutes daily to connect – with yourself and others. Journal your feelings, join a new mom’s group, or simply call a friend. Sharing your experiences and feelings can make the journey even more meaningful and a tad bit lighter.

“All fame cost her was everything.” 🎸✨💋
Darkening Song by Delphine Seddon was such a fun read. When I saw it being placed in the same space as #daisyjonesandthesix I immediately requested this ARC. Thank you @netgalley and @stmartinspress — I can’t wait for the adaptation!

Daisy Jones & The Six — one of my favorite book adaptations ever. 📚 More books need to be made into a limited TV series rather than crammed into a movie. #daisyjonesandthesix #bookadaptation #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #bookflatlay
