Sensitive Skin and Sonic Refresher by Michael Todd Beauty Review

August 7, 2020

Hello, loves! Today I am really excited to share with you my honest review of the Sonic Refresher by Michael Todd Beauty. Earlier this summer I was kindly gifted the at-home microdermabrasion device to try and review. If you know me, you know I am always very careful about my skin. It’s always been quite sensitive and acne-prone, so I am hesitant when it comes to new skin products and devices. When I find something I like, I stick with it.

Wavering from my daily beauty routine with new products typically doesn’t bode well for my skin. So my first spout of honestly with this review: I was apprehensive to try the Sonic Refresher. At-home microdermabrasion on my sensitive, acne-prone skin seemed like it could be a mistake for me. I wanted to improve my skin, not add to its imperfections. Plus, all the add-ons initially seemed overwhelming to me. But trust me, it’s not AT ALL.

Sonic Refresher At-Home Microdermabrasion

I put any concerns aside and gave the device a try. I instantly saw and felt an improvement to my skin. Assuming it’s too good to be true, I decided I would make my mind up in the morning, just in case my skin decided to flare up overnight. The next morning, still so soft and smooth. One week later, still no issues, and I couldn’t wait to try it again the following month.

I’ve never done an at-home microdermabrasion (for the obvious reasons I stated above). I was nervous about doing it wrong and not seeing results or even hurting my skin. But the Sonic Refresher comes with such simple and thorough guidelines to follow so that you see results and avoid hurting your skin. Phew!

It comes with three treatment heads and three (only two pictured below, oops!) extraction heads. Some models are only sold with the treatment heads, which are truly all you need to improve your skin. However, I love the pore extraction tips because I have a history of clogged pores (acne is the worst!). If you, too, snag one with the extraction heads, you will have five steps to better skin. Renew, reset, refine, remove, and rehydrate. (eliminate “remove” if you don’t have/use the pore extraction)

The best part of the Sonic Refresher — the built-in micronized misting! Once you have followed the first four steps (renew, reset, refine, and remove) you finish by rehydrating your skin with a delicate mist. With the mist, you can even mix in your favorite toner, creating an extra soothing finish. It feels so refreshing to your super clean skin.

Sonic Refresher For The Second Time

We just got home from a quick weekend trip to the beach and I was really excited to use this once again to cleanse my skin of the heavy SPF, sweat, and salt air that graced my skin all weekend. Once again, I was so happy with the way my skin not only felt but looked after the Sonic Refresher. It’s visibly smoother and brighter. As someone with problematic skin most of her life, it’s invigorating to my confidence to have such smooth, clear, glowing skin.

All-in-all I would highly recommend this product to anyone considering it. It’s super easy to use and the results are definitely noticeable. Although I have only used the device twice this summer, I am really excited and hopeful that it will only continue to make my skin better and better all year round!

“All fame cost her was everything.” 🎸✨💋
Darkening Song by Delphine Seddon was such a fun read. When I saw it being placed in the same space as #daisyjonesandthesix I immediately requested this ARC. Thank you @netgalley and @stmartinspress — I can’t wait for the adaptation!

Daisy Jones & The Six — one of my favorite book adaptations ever. 📚 More books need to be made into a limited TV series rather than crammed into a movie. #daisyjonesandthesix #bookadaptation #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #bookflatlay
