Mudroom Transformations with Shaker Peg Rails

April 25, 2022

Get ready to be inspired by some seriously swoon-worthy mudroom transformations that have been lighting up my Pinterest feed! These are the kind of images that make you hit that save button without hesitation. Lately, my fixation has been on mudrooms decked out with charming shaker peg rails.

Who doesn’t love a good DIY project? Especially when it’s accessible to everyone. Our creative enthusiasts below have spoken: installing shaker peg rails is the perfect entry-level project to dive into. So, if you’re gearing up for a room revamp, consider the game-changing impact of adding a stylish wall of peg rails.

While shaker peg rails can easily fit into any room’s aesthetics, today we’re diving deep into mudrooms. And let’s be real, they’re a match made in heaven for these spaces. Think about it: jackets, bags, hats, sports gear, and everything in between. The practicality of shaker peg rails in a mudroom is hard to beat!

Soak in the mudroom magic showcased below and let your creative juices flow. These examples are here to spark your DIY spirit and give you that extra push to embark on your very own peg rail project! Enjoy!

We absolutely love the way this peg rail by Sarah of Grace in My Space wraps around the entire mudroom. Sarah refers to this DIY shaker peg rail project as “a beginner woodworking project” making this doable for even your most novice DIY enthusiast. Make sure to check out her post for spacing tips for adding peg rails in corners.

39 peg hooks later and this mudroom makeover by Erin of Hamilton Park Home is complete! Accompanied by a custom built-in bench, the peg rail is not only easy but durable, says Erin (who confidentially hangs sports gear from them). We have to agree, it totally transforms her garage mudroom into a chic space. Who knew we’d one day refer to a garage as chic? We love it!

This traditional farmhouse mudroom makeover by The Wild Decoelis is absolutely stunning. Beautiful and bright white tile flooring paired with grey slatted wainscotting creates a cool and calming atmosphere. We love that the peg rails remain in their natural wood color creating a warm contrast that makes them visually stand out just a little extra on the wall.

I think it’s a unanimous agreement — this deep green paint chosen for this mudroom makeover is an absolute stunner. Jenny Komenda says that painting the peg rails to match the trim and cabinets creates an English Country vibe. With neutral accents to complement the moody green shade, this mudroom is a little slice of solace in the home.

Beadboard plus peg rails equal the perfect spot for Deb of Lavender Lane to keep her handbag at all times. Deb refers to this project as “easier than she thought” which again should give any novice woodworker the confidence to take on a DIY peg rail project. We love the beautiful beige color that adds a splash of warmth to the mudroom.

As a serial highlighter and tabber, this book would have been ABSOLUTELY COVERED in little tabs if it was a physical copy. My Kindle highlights will have to suffice until pub day (June 2027) because I have so many thoughts.

the ghosts, the art, the wasps, the homewrecking…

This book was strange, sad, funny, beautifully unsettling, and somehow incredibly comforting all at once… and I loved it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My full review ⚠️with spoilers ⚠️ is up on the blog!

Thank you @netgalley @spiegelandgrau @beckymandelbaum for this amazing ARC!
