The Sun and the Starmaker Audiobook Review: A Lyrical Romantasy by Rachel Griffin

February 15, 2026

It is complicated to want you. Your very existence is ending mine, and yet, I would rather die having known you than live a thousand lives as strangers. - The Sun and The Star Maker by Rachel Griffin The audiobook read 8% complete when I texted my best friend to let her know I was "already l[...]

Soul of Shadow by Emma Noyes: YA Romantasy Audiobook Review

February 14, 2026

I'm a night mare, darling. I know you don't yet fully grasp what that means, but surely you must have some idea. - Soul of Shadow The first and most overwhelming thought I had when I finished this audiobook was quite simple: "I NEED BOOK TWO NOW!" Luckily for me, book two is released March 1[...]

Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson & Taylor Swift’s Cardigan: A Peter Pan Retelling

February 9, 2026

She is not the girl he grows old with. She is the girl who stays young forever in his memory. Romanticizing Peter Pan is something I have done literally my entire life. So when I finally got around to reading the original Peter Pan and Wendy by J. M. Barrie and that kiss from the 2003 film ad[...]

The Jingle Man: How An Ancient Winter Boogeyman Is Being Reborn Online

February 4, 2026

Once the sun slips away and winter hushes the world, there’s a sound you were never meant to hear. A bell. Just one. Light as a breath but heavy enough to catch right in your throat. Known in scattered pieces of German folklore as a skeletal winter spirit, the Jingle Man legend is now resur[...]

December 2025 Reads: A Month of Fairy Tale and Folklore Retellings

January 15, 2026

Retellings remind me that stories are living things. They change depending on who tells them and when they are told. There’s something about December that makes stories feel older, softer, and a little closer to folklore. Maybe it’s the longer, colder nights, but I found myself gravitati[...]

Hi I’m Julie

I love to read, write, and take too many pictures. Blogging has always combined all three loves into a fun and beautiful hobby. You can always find me with an iced coffee in one hand and a book (or two) in the other. Thanks for stopping by!

As a serial highlighter and tabber, this book would have been ABSOLUTELY COVERED in little tabs if it was a physical copy. My Kindle highlights will have to suffice until pub day (June 2027) because I have so many thoughts.

the ghosts, the art, the wasps, the homewrecking…

This book was strange, sad, funny, beautifully unsettling, and somehow incredibly comforting all at once… and I loved it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My full review ⚠️with spoilers ⚠️ is up on the blog!

Thank you @netgalley @spiegelandgrau @beckymandelbaum for this amazing ARC!
