Five For Friday

Five For Friday – Happy Headspace

March 1, 2024

Happy Friday! And Happy March 1st! I cannot believe Spring is upon us. It hit 55 degrees the other day and my body and mind immediately felt rejuvenated. My kids and I played outside morning to night, and in the small moments I got indoors, I dove headfirst into spring cleaning and organizing.

Life felt good—it was as if I had stepped into a blissfully happy headspace, where the day felt brighter. Winter often seems to snatch every morsel of motivation from me, hence my silence on the blog front.

Not to mention the state of the world lately has been anything but uplifting. Paired with the dreariness of winter, finding the motivation to write down my happy thoughts became a daunting task that I couldn’t even fake.

This post could contain affiliate links, which means I would receive a small commission at no cost to you should you shop using the links.

But today, as I stepped into my car this morning without needing to defrost it, I felt a wave of happiness wash over me, warming my mind and sparking a burst of inspiration in my soul. And so, here I am — back at it with a Five For Friday post to share the moments this week that have contributed to my happy headspace.

One of my favorite moments includes a summer field with a morning dove cry ambiance. Because why not? Read on for more!

2. What I’m Reading

I binge-watched Normal People on Hulu for two late nights and sobbed THE ENTIRE TIME. Is it typical to absolutely sob the ENTIRE DURATION of Normal People? It was so worth staying up far too late for two nights and immersing myself in that story because it has affected me deeply. IT WAS SO GOOD.

Anyway, what I am currently reading is Normal People — I can’t wait to write a Book To Film post about it!

3. What I’m Watching

When I finished watching Normal People one of my immediate thoughts was something along the lines of “I wish One Day had been filmed as a series instead of a movie.” If you’re unfamiliar with One Day, it’s a novel by David Nicholls that was adapted into a movie in 2011.

The movie is perfect, I just wish it had been made into a series to get even more details. It’s on my ongoing list of in-progress Book to Film blog posts. I just need to reread it because I haven’t read it since 2010.

After finishing Normal People I logged into Netflix to see a new and limited series: One Day. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Needless to say, I will be visiting that very soon.

Like, when I am finished with Love Is Blind — this is what I am actually watching at the moment. No shame. Even my husband who typically refuses to watch “trash” got sucked into this season.

4. What I am Listening To

I went back down memory lane to an album I religiously listened to in 2011 — Lana Del Rey: Born To Die.

That is 100% a no-skip album. I used to listen to it daily in 2011; to and from work. It was such an exciting time in my life and this album floods my mind with so many good memories.

Video Games was the first song I heard from this album and it remains my favorite song by Lana Del Rey. As for my second favorite song — it’s a tough call. They’re all so good.

5. What I ♡ on TikTok

I give a heart to basically anything that I truly like on TikTok. But there are always a few that really hit me in the feels. Here are a few from this week that filled me with joy and only further contributed to my happy headspace.

  • How To Feel Happier via @meganfornal — her message is so beautiful.
  • Think younger, be younger? I love this positive message from @diaryofaceofans about the power of the mind.
  • Summer Field With Morning Dove Cry Ambiance. Thank you @the_happihippi — I immediately logged off TikTok and played this in my home. I drifted back to my summer days as a child where Morning Doves always had a nest on my porch.
  • It’s a giant, beautiful, insanely vivid rainbow. Enough said. @roslianaazman
  • This message about tanning beds from @willsub4sun is so painfully accurate. Yes, it’s a joke but also so true. We were all so much happier smelling like tanning lotion.

Thank you for taking the time to read! If we have mistagged a photo of yours or you want a photo removed please email us.

Daisy Jones & The Six — one of my favorite book adaptations ever. 📚 More books need to be made into a limited TV series rather than crammed into a movie. #daisyjonesandthesix #bookadaptation #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #bookflatlay

This is one of the best historical fiction books I’ve ever read (listened to, thank you @netgalley). If you have the chance to get your hands on this one, READ IT!

It doesn’t just tell you what happened in history, it truly makes you feel it. It educates you and moves you all at the same time. Thank you @tammyehuf I’ll read anything you write.

My #ThoughtDaughter book stack from July—the month I tried to pick a theme that resonated the most with me. My standouts: Alone With You In The Ether, The Virgin Suicides, and My Year Of Rest and Relaxation which I think about every time I buy an iced coffee and consider buying a second. #bookstagram #bookstack #myyearofrestandrelaxation #alonewithyouintheether
